The Ram baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against the Roland-Story Norsemen in Jefferson Wednesday evening.
The first game was a 4-2 win behind senior Riah Nelsen’s solid pitching. Nelsen improved his record on the mound to 5-1 as he struck out 13 batters. He walked four and allowed five hits. Both the Norsemen’s runs were earned.
The Rams got nine hits on the game. Daric Whipple hit a double and two singles. Nelsen, Alex Rasmussen, Jordan Challen, Reid Lamoureux, Dylan McConnell and Tyler Beger hit one single each. The RBIs belonged to Whipple, Nelsen, McConnnell and Challen.
Final score in the second game was 5-4. Junior Branden Miller started on the mound in the second game. He gave up three runs in the first inning and pitched to three batters with no outs in the second inning before senior Jordan Hostetler came in as relief. Hostetler finished the game, allowed one run, and was credited with the win.
The Rams scored three runs in the first inning and two in the fourth on six hits. Challen hit two doubles and Whipple, Lamoureux, Hostetler and Beger hit one single each.
The Rams are 15-9 overall and 11-9 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. Roland-Story is 18-13 overall and 10-7 in the conference.
